Name: Cordelia Chase
Journal: [personal profile] advancedbosoms
Series: Angel the Series
Canon point: Last episode of season 3
History: http://buffy.wikia.com/wiki/Cordelia_Chase
Personality:I’m of the opinion that Cordelia is in Angel what Willow is in Buffy: a character whose personal journey is so great that they are nearly a completely different person in their last seasons than they were when we first saw their characters. Cordelia started out about as one-dimensional as Joss Whedon characters get. She was created to show the person that Buffy had once been and had moved away from; a popular cheerleader, obsessed with dating and popularity and shopping. Cordelia was self-centered, tactless, and seemed to have absolutely no problem with hurting other people’s feelings. As the show went on, she began to grow, spending time with less popular students, dating Xander Harris, even defending her new friends. Cordelia grew up rich, but her father lost his wealth due to tax fraud just before her graduation from high school, and this forced her to move away from her small town and into Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting. This was not going well. It turned out that being pretty and charismatic was not enough to get her cast--the fact that she was a terrible actress meant she wasn't getting cast in anything. However, it was in L.A. that she met up with Angel.

Cordelia has tremendous growth during her years working with Angel Investigations. While she begins working for the vampire as a source of income, she begins to genuinely care about the operation and is, in fact, described as the heart of Angel Investigations. This especially becomes the case she is given visions from the Powers That Be and begins to see the pain that other people suffer. Cordelia starts to be more worried about helping suffering people than her own priorities. Becoming rich and famous is no longer a goal, and by the third season, we really don't see her pursuing acting anymore. It becomes a dream that once was and keeping Angel Investigations on track and using her visions to help total strangers becomes her focus. While she is still Cordy (loving dating and fashion and nights on the town) she becomes a hero in her own right, often putting herself in danger for the good of not only her friends, but for the world. The PTB even see her as potential for a higher being, and choose her to ascend to their plane of existence.

She is described as a “cheerleader princess warrior” and this is actually a very good description of her growth, from one identifier to the next. Despite this, Cordelia will always have her imperfections. She is somewhat shallow, and she definitely has a healthy ego. When she meets the demon Skip on an astral plane, he tells her that usually, people imagine themselves as their idealized versions of themselves in this plane, but Cordelia looks the same. She is her idealized version of herself already. She is completely tactless and can judge people from their exterior and she isn't always the brightest taco in the combo platter (though the series can't seem to decide how intelligent she is. she can ace her SATs but thinks "anagogic" means "anorexic"). Despite that, she wants to do the right thing and makes efforts to not always put herself first anymore, the way she once did. In fact, she is seen hiding the toll of her visions from her friends because she doesn't want them to worry and ends up becoming half demon instead of taking the chance to alter history and become a rich and successful actress--once she sees that her friends would be lost without her.
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Appearance:Cordelia is tall and curvy and exudes confidence. She is a beautiful girl, and the sort of beautiful girl who embraces the fact. She wears stylish clothing and tends to change her hairstyle every few months. She doesn’t like to go out in public without makeup and coiffed hair, though she’s learned to not be quite so concerned about that after frequently being covered in demon slime.
Abilities/Powers: She’s vision girl! Cordy is given visions from the Powers That Be, usually of imminent danger and people that need to be saved, though sometimes she has had visions of other things. She is part-demon and can levitate, glow, and use a healing power to purify people who have been affected by a demon. She sometimes uses her power to glow as a nightlight. This power can also be used in an offensive way, and she has burst with light to destroy demons and disintegrate weapons, though it seems she can’t control this and that it is her body’s instinctual reaction to danger. In a non-supernatural way, Cordelia is surprisingly intelligent (in the top 10% of her class and getting an excellent SAT score) and a quick learner (she says that as a cheerleader, she only ever had to be shown a move once before she could replicate it). Angel taught her how to fight, so she has the ability to defend herself with weaponry.
Personal Items: A compact and brush, a necklace from Angel, a stake, a crucifix, a photo of herself, Angel, and Wes. Additionally, one extra outfit.
